Couple of things:
1. The general on-air reaction to Captain Stuart Broad (or Sue Broad depending on which part of his fandom you reside in) wasn’t flattering. It began with the exclusion of Ian Bell and ended with vice captain Eoin Morgan being described as the person actually taking decisions towards the end. If you care about my opinion, it’s probably biased by my residence in the Stuart part of his fandom. But here goes anyway – given how he’s bounced back from the Yuvraj incident, the 2009 T20 WC Netherlands final over and so on, can’t really count him out as yet. Is hard though to imagine someone who’s forever grumbling making a good captain – Afridi does that, but does Stuart have his charisma? Doubt it.
2. For a while now, one of the weird peculiarities with T20 cricket has been the profile pics of the players – you know, the ones that pop up when they come in to bat. Players always seem to have been snapped at their most comical in them. Someone seems to have taken notice and this time around they decided to give the players an air of respectability by having them strike sideways poses while gazing into the distance. Unfortunate then, that they all ended up looking like deceased actors in a film-awards-night showreel.
Good comments. I think Broad’s too young and no-ones getting county cricket captaincy experience.
Agree with Scott. Broad acts like he never saw this coming and he’s not ready mentally, I’m not sure if he ever will be.
