Watch Ireland vs Bangladesh highlights – the Group B game from the 2011 World Cup played on Feb 25

Scoreline: Bangladesh 205 all out – Tamim Iqbal 44 (43), Raqibul 38, Mushfiqur 36 | Dockrell 10-2-23-2, Botha 3
Ireland 178 all out – Kevin O’Brien 37 (40), Niall O’Brien 38 (52) | Shafiul Islam 8-1-21-4, Shakib and Ashraful 2 each

After the Netherlands-England game, another Associate nation messes up a great opportunity. Too bad we need to wait for World Cups to see the O’Brien brothers. Dockrell apparently bowled well today (didn’t see it) – you’ll remember him as the 18 year old spinner from the last T20 World Cup, particularly a game vs West Indies.
Additional Trivia: Ireland beat Bangladesh in the 2009 T20 world cup (vids currently unavailable)
Kevin O’Brien idolized Flintoff. Even looks like him.

I haven’t checked, but Shafiul Islam probably doesn’t have too many wickets in his career. Which is probably why he’s often picked on, when he goes for runs. Personally speaking, I’ve always felt he’s Bangladesh’s next best after Mortaza. Kind of similar to Ajit Agarkar; the wiry look and the ability to bowl well after a poor spell/game. Some might say comparing anyone with Agarkar is a heinous crime, but that’s a different matter altogether.

Another interesting part was Shafiul getting confused when he was intereviewed at the end (for man of the moment).. he thought it was Man of the Match. In the end, the MOM went to Tamim Iqbal. I don’t blame Shafiul though — he had done his bit and this whole man of the moment stuff is crap. I think they are trying to emulate other sports and sneak in an interview – should just wait for the presentation ceremony.
