Watch Day 1 highlights – Sri Lanka vs England – the 2nd Test at Lord’s played on June 3, 2011
Scoreline: England 342/6 – Alastair Cook 96, Eoin Morgan 79, Ian Bell 52, Matt Prior 73 no | Suranga Lakmal 3/79, Welegedara 2/65
I really enjoyed the cut shots played by Prior. I thought he is going hard to cash in before the second new ball becomes due but he kept on going!!
Why would you want to field after winning the toss, hmmm probably its very intimidating for sub continent captains to win the toss and elect to bat in overseas conditions. its easier said than done but batting first does give the best chance to win a test match in whatever conditions you are playing in.
Bell is in cracking form. he was not short of words when India toured England last time and kept chatting with Indian batsmen when on the field. Well, at that time he was not in best of form so probably he was best suited for that role, but him being in excellent form it would be interesting to see if he would still do the same thing!!
Also I would be interested in the kind of pace attack India would be able to field for the test matches in England. Many beleive that India has not won enough test series abroad (in Aus, Eng, WI and SA) to justify the number 1 title, well if India could beat this upbeat English team they would have shut many mouths. I would assume it would be a great challenge for India batsmen to face tall and quick English bowlers. It promises to be a cracker of a series only if India can hold these English quickies!!!!
Sri Lanka better take early wickets tomorrow otherwse they might be in for a couple of more sessions of leather hunt!!!!!!!!
