Watch highlights from the 3rd ODI – Sri Lanka vs England – played at Lord’s on July 3, 2011

Scoreline: England 246/7 – Alastair Cook 119 (143), KP 41 (43) | Jeevan Mendis 10-40-2, Lakmal and Malinga 2 apiece
Sri Lanka win in 48.2 – Dinesh Chandimal 105 no (126), Mahela 79 (77) | Swann 10-32-2

My favourite bit from the entire Chandimal 100 saga was Angelo Mathews. Sure, he’d obviously encouraged the whole idea of playing for the 100, but what was fantastic to watch was his refusal to buckle down despite the raging Sri Lankan balcony. Even when Chandimal appeared ready to chicken out of the plan. Takes a lot of guts, that, regardless of whether the plan of playing for a hundred was right or wrong. Honestly, who can really tell – if SL had somehow managed to lose the game from there, you could have had an opinion. But they didn’t.

That whole bit was amusing, yet hard to watch.
I can’t really fault pietersen either. i’m not too keen on the idea of stretching out a game merely for personal achievement.

well batting chandimal……it remains me of “sehvag’s” batting when i see him batting agressively and positively, you got a better future in the srilankan team……That being said, good drama at the end of the game in just the 6th one day ( your captain didn’t loved it though,) that you are playing, it kept crowd going somehow……

Absolutely riveting stuff this…Well done to Chandimaal for getting a hundred at Lords..I reckon Angelo did the right thing here as long as he was in control of the situation..It would be a huge confidence boost for the young man..I really can’t understand why KP got all worked up..He would have to be the most overrated cricketer on the planet..!Absolutely undermines Cook’s captaincy in this whole fiasco. Here’s a new captain, let him talk to the opposition if he has to..KP has had a pretty shitty series to date and i believe the whole aura around him is starting to disappear..C’mon Sri Lanka..pummel those poms..!

  5. England would be much better of stop worrying about the swinging bats of the opposition and keep going hard at them with serious hostile quick bowling. Don’t just worry about their attack but just keep going hard with serious quick bowling with some real hostility, well if SL still comes across, so be it!!!

It won’t be befitting for England to lose to SL at home!!
